Ring Sling: Hip or Front Position
Hip or Front Position
Position the rings right under your shoulder.
If the rings end up being too high on your shoulder they will push on it and cause discomfort under the baby’s weight. If the rings are too low, there will be not enough fabric left to create a comfortable pouch for the baby.
If the sling is too loose, you can adjust it by pulling on the tail, just make sure again that the fabric is not twisted and stays well spread in between the rings.
Now comes the fun part! Take your baby and put her (in my case him) on the shoulder, the opposite from which your sling is on.
Hold the baby tight and secure under her/his bottom while covering her/him with the sling.
Very carefully move your baby down and place her/him on your hip or in front of you for the front position.
Pull the inner edge of the tail to tighten the top edge of the pouch your baby is in. The top edge of the sling should not be lower than the baby’s armpits.
Pull the outer edge of the tail to tighten the bottom edge of the pouch.
make sure that the bottom edge of the sling runs between you and your baby under your baby’s knees. You might need to tuck the bottom edge under the baby’s bottom so that the edge is between you and the baby and the sling becomes a comfortable pouch for the baby to sit in.
The top edge of the sling is on the same level (or higher) as the baby’s armpits.
The bottom edge of the sling is between you and the baby.
The baby’s knees are higher than the baby’s bottom so that the baby’s legs and bottom are M-shaped.
The baby is high enough for you to reach him for a kiss (it is seriously a rule for a comfortable wear! Not optional :D)
The sling is tight enough not to let the baby lean forward or backward.
Enjoy your closeness!
